Sometimes we forget that we’re all in this together. We each have our struggles and challenges that can sometimes bring disunity. But that doesn’t change God’s desire for us to be in unity. When we are united as one body, our work multiplies exponentially. It’s not always easy, but that doesn’t mean it’s not possible.
As you walk in unity with one another, I believe you will discover your prayer life deepening and corporate worship more enticing.
The Importance Of Unity
Unity is a fundamental biblical concept that helps us understand God’s intentions for his people. Unity in the body of Christ is vital for the work of God’s Kingdom.
Jesus prayed, “May they all be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you.” One Body is a song by Hillsong United. This Christian hymn helps us see the importance of unity, not just with those around us but also with Jesus himself.
The apostle Paul also emphasized this idea when he said, “if one part suffers, all suffer together with it” (1 Cor 12:26)
Unity with fellow believers can be difficult in today’s society, but its effort is well worth it. It can be hard to get people to come together when they’ve been hurt before, but God can use anything, even our past pain, as a catalyst for unity. It’s not always easy to see how our small efforts can significantly impact what God will accomplish through Christ. But we need to keep trying.
How Do You Walk In Unity?
Amos 3:3 says, “Can two walk together, except they be agreed?”
To have unity doesn’t mean that we agree on everything, but we need to agree on certain things.
In this time of division, with people having so many different views and opinions, it can be hard to figure out how to walk in unity. That’s why our focus must be on Christ and what He has done for us, not on our minor differences.
If we want true unity with one another, we must agree on the following:
-We are all sinners saved by grace.
-We believe in God’s son Jesus Christ and His death for our sins.
-The Bible is the inspired Word of God.
-Jesus Christ alone saves.
-Jesus will return for His church.
-Every knee will bow, and every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord.
-Loving God and loving people.
True Community Requires Unity.
Community is developed as we:
– Worship as one body
– Pray for one another
– Serve each other
– Share our faith with the world around us
We have to work together. God doesn’t call us to live in isolation, but instead, He calls us to be in community with one another. We can find unity in the struggles we share and even in our differences. It’s through this unity that our lives will have an exponential impact.
Unity is not always easy because it requires time and effort, but it is well worth the challenge.
Unity is an integral part of the Christian faith and should be promoted in all aspects of life. Christians can walk in unity by striving together for the faith of the gospel and by striving for unity through worship and service. We can also walk in unity by holding each other accountable to the gospel so that we can see each other as fellow believers first and then as co-laborers.
As we walk in unity, the world will notice, and the Kingdom will be expanded.
Let me know what you think. Where do you see great examples of the Body of Christ walking in unity?
