What’s in Your Hands? Stop Waiting and Use What God Has Already Given You
What If You Already Have Everything You Need?
Moses didn’t feel qualified.
He was standing barefoot before a burning bush, in the presence of God Himself, yet all he could think about was what he lacked.
God had just called him to something huge—to stand before Pharaoh, demand the release of Israel, and lead an entire nation to freedom. But instead of stepping forward in faith, Moses started listing all the reasons he wasn’t the right guy for the job.
What if they don’t believe me?
I’m not a good speaker.
Can’t you send someone else?
Sound familiar?
Maybe you feel unqualified for the thing God is stirring in your heart. Maybe you’ve told yourself, "I’ll step out when I have more experience, more resources, more clarity."
But then God interrupts Moses with one simple, powerful question:
📖 “What is that in your hand?” (Exodus 4:2)
Moses looks down. It’s just a staff—an ordinary shepherd’s stick. Nothing special.
But in God’s hands, that simple staff would become a tool for miracles. It would part the Red Sea. Bring water from a rock. Be lifted in battle as a sign of victory.
The staff itself never changed. But when Moses surrendered it to God, everything changed.
What If You’re Waiting for Something Bigger?
We do this all the time.
We tell ourselves:
"I’ll start when I have more time."
"If I had better resources, I could really do something for God."
"Once I feel more prepared, then I’ll take that step of faith."
We wait for the perfect moment before saying yes to what God has already placed in our hands.
But what if God isn’t asking you to wait?
What if He’s asking you to use what you already have—right now?
What’s Already in Your Hands?
David didn’t wait to be king before stepping into leadership—he picked up a slingshot and five stones.
The disciples didn’t wait until they were fully trained theologians before following Jesus—they dropped their nets and walked in faith.
The widow in 2 Kings 4 didn’t wait until she had more resources—she took the little oil she had, and God multiplied it.
If they had waited for something bigger, they would have missed the miracle.
Maybe you don’t feel like you have much right now. But look again.
What’s in your hands?
Maybe it’s a skill you’ve been refining for years.
Maybe it’s a story that could encourage someone else.
Maybe it’s a small opportunity that doesn’t seem like much, but God is waiting for you to step into it.
You don’t need to have it all figured out. You don’t need more. You just need to be faithful with what’s in your hands.
God Uses What We Surrender
Moses thought his staff was just a staff. But in God’s hands, it became something greater.
So often, we think what we have isn’t enough—not big enough, not impressive enough, not important enough. But God isn’t asking for something spectacular. He’s simply asking:
📖 “What is that in your hand?”
The real question isn’t “Do I have enough?” but “Am I willing to surrender it?”
Because when you place ordinary things in God’s hands, He does extraordinary things.
Stop Waiting. Step Out.
What if today was the day you stopped waiting?
What if, instead of asking for something bigger, you asked God how He wants to use what’s already in your hands?
Take the step. Say yes to what’s in front of you. Surrender it to God and watch what He does with it.
Prayer
Lord, I’ve spent too much time waiting. Too much time believing I don’t have enough to offer. But today, I surrender what’s in my hands to You. Use my skills, my influence, my time—whatever I have—for Your glory. Even if it seems small, I trust that You can multiply it. Give me the courage to step out in faith today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
